Dr. Henry Crichlow
Ph.D., P.E. · Founder & CEO · Engineer · Inventor · Former Distinguished Professor
Dr. Henry B. Crichlow is a registered Professional Engineer whose career spans academic research, international energy projects, drilling and subsurface engineering, technology invention, government assignments and more than two decades devoted to nuclear-waste technology. He earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from Stanford University, an M.Sc. from the University of Oklahoma and a B.Sc. from the Colorado School of Mines.
At the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Crichlow served as a Distinguished Professor of Engineering and led academic programs associated with petroleum, geological and natural-gas engineering. He also initiated and directed a USGS-certified Oil Well Blowout Control Systems School that trained drilling personnel in practical blowout prevention and control.
His industry leadership also includes service as Director – International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), Houston, TX. extending his operating perspective into the international drilling-contractor community.
Dr. Henry Crichlow’s engineering publications and patented innovations have generated more than 1,300 Google Scholar citations across petroleum engineering, geothermal systems, energy technology and nuclear waste disposal.
His international technical work has included assignments involving MOBIL, TEXACO, the World Bank, the FDIC, PEMEX and Kuwait Oil Company. His résumé records work on the Kuwait oil-field recovery effort following more than 700 burning wells, technical evaluation and development planning for PEMEX's Cantarell offshore field, World Bank gas-reserve evaluations in Bolivia, and engineering evaluation of approximately 29,000 oil and gas properties for the FDIC.
Dr. Crichlow is the named inventor of U.S. Patent 5,850,614, which established the foundational concept of deep horizontal wellbore disposal for high-level radioactive waste. He has continued to build on that work through the NuclearSAFE platform—SuperLAT®, CinGOT™ and SuperSILO®—and a broader portfolio of supporting technologies for waste conditioning, handling, transport, retrieval, monitoring and permanent closure.
